Upright Bass Guitar Lessons

Children are often first exposed to this instrument in school orchestras and then in high school jazz band when they become teens. At Eagle Rock Music Studio in Los Angeles we offer upright bass lessons for both children and adults. We love nothing more than broadening the musical horizons of our students, and we believe in having them take action so they can transition from dreaming to doing.

The upright bass has many names, including the stand-up bass, double bass, string bass. Since the electric bass guitar has emerged as the dominant bass instrument in popular culture, the upright bass is generally referred to by one of its more elaborate names in order to distinguish between the two. Of the stringed instruments introduced in Renaissance Era Europe, the bass is one of the oldest that still survives today, as it is thought to have been developed as early as the 15th century. It belongs to the violin family, and is occasionally referred to as the bass violin.

The upright bass is a versatile instrument which is utilized in classical, jazz, country, rockabilly, and bluegrass music situations. It is frequently heard on early rock & roll and R&B recordings, as well. During acoustic/unplugged concert settings, the stand-up bass is often used rather than an electric or acoustic bass guitar.

It is the desire of Eagle Rock Music Studio to encourage our students to achieve a level of skill and enjoyment for their instrument that surpasses their initial expectations. It is important for students to be continuously learning in a fun environment that is supportive, engaging, and friendly. Because everyone is different and learns differently, we tailor a lesson plan specifically for each student – we believe this achieves the best results, and all upright bass lessons are private as a result.
