Piano Lessons

At Eagle Rock Music Studio in Los Angeles, we offer piano lessons to musicians of all ages and skill levels. Young children and adults into their eighties come to study piano with us. Regardless of whether you aspire to be a professional musician or a recreational player, Eagle Rock has something for you that will transform you from a dreamer to a doer.

History

The piano, as we now know it, first appeared in the early 18th century, but it was developed from previous existing instruments (particularly the clavichord and the harpsichord, which were introduced in the 17th century). The piano of Mozart’s time (1756-1791) underwent particularly rapid and drastic changes. Today there are many forms of keyboards that produce an extremely wide range of sounds. Most of them feature the same layout as a typical piano, in terms of how the keys are arranged.

Appeal

The piano may be, in the words of Will Hunting (Matt Damon), “a bunch of keys, three pedals, and a box of wood” to those who can’t play. For the talented musicians who can play, it is a special gift indeed. The piano may be the most accessible instrument of the modern era, since it is studied more than any other instrument during childhood. The piano’s presence throughout recorded music is pervasive. From Bach to rock, jazz, Latin, country and a multitude of other styles, the piano can be heard as both a solo and accompany instrument.

Lessons

At Eagle Rock Music Studio, we understand that each student has their own goals and learning styles, and that it is important to tailor the lessons to the individual needs of each and every student. We offer both private lessons and low cost start up classes. We believe every student should learn something new each time he or she visits us, and that lessons should be fun, engaging, and exciting. We like to provide a supportive and encouraging environment for our students.

Our coursework options include sight-reading, music theory, improvisation, and songwriting. We offer two course paths for piano players: one for professionals and another for recreation. Regardless of path, your instructor will assess your skill level, identify your goals, and work with you towards fulfilling them.

Eagle Rock Music Studios is located just north of downtown Los Angeles between Glendale and Pasadena. For more information or to set up a lesson, please call us at 323-309-8467.
